PILOT PROGRAMS

At First Team Pilot Training, you can receive all the necessary training to become a world-class pilot.  We offer professional ground instruction and flight instruction in well-equipped Piper Cherokee aircraft based at two airports serving the greater Memphis area.  West Memphis Airport (KAWM) close to downtown Memphis and Fayette County Airport (KFYE) in Somerville, TN a short drive from Arlington, Lakeland, Collierville and Germantown TN.  

We work with you to customize training plans according to your schedule and needs.  We get to know you and understand that your personality, learning style, strengths and weaknesses are unique to you.  We teach to the highest standards so you will be a confident and safe pilot, they day of your checkride and beyond.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO PAY

At First Team Pilot Training, we're on a mission to train world class pilots, flight instructors and future airline captains. We have high standards for ourselves and our student pilots because it's not enough just to pass a flight test.  Our training and courses are designed to graduate confident, safe pilots with the skills and knowledge to be successful aviators.  Our Senior Flight Instructor has developed our course structures based on 30 years experience in civilian and military training.  Our goal is to create outstanding flight training programs, structured to maximize efficiency and minimize unnecessary costs.

In general, the cost to become a private pilot or receive a Private Pilot Certificate can range from $7K-$18K spread out over several months up to a year (depending on the school and aircraft rental rates).  To complete our Private Pilot course, expect to spend between 15 and 30 hours of classroom training and 40 hours of flight training. Our Private Pilot Course Syllabus reflects 35 hours of ground instruction, 30 hours of dual and 10 solo hours in aircraft.

COMPLEX

A complex aircraft is any aircraft that possesses flaps, retractable landing gear and constant speed propeller(s).

HIGH PERFORMANCE

A high-performance airplane is defined as an airplane with an engine capable of developing more than 200 horsepower.

MULTI ENGINE

The multi-engine rating can be added on to a private or commercial certificate. The multiengine rating certifies the pilot to operate twin-engine aircraft.

TAILWHEEL

A tailwheel aircraft has an undercarriage consisting of two main wheels forward of the center of gravity and a small wheel or skid to support the tail.
